[Electronica, House, Down-tempo]

As a Producer, DJ, remixer, songwriter, and musician, Ned Shepard has much to offer to the world of electronic music. He began playing piano at the age of 5, studying classical, jazz and blues.

After spending time in Europe and hearing the sounds of Underworld, Faithless and Orbital, Ned was hooked and began writing his own electronic compositions.

In the fall of 2000, he met Marcus Bacalis and the two formed Digital Witchcraft. The next three years saw the duo release groundbreaking breakbeat tracks, most notably "Fingerpaint" on Proton Music and The "Snowday" E.P. on Institution Breaks. Meanwhile, as DJ's, their unique style of melodic breaks and electro-house moved dance floors from Montreal to Miami, playing alongside DJ's such as Sander Kleinenberg and Desyn Masiello.

In 2002, Ned began working with Sultan, and their first project, entitled "Strange Dimensions", was released by John Digweed's Bedrock Breaks label under the name Jiva. Since then the two have released over a dozen original productions and remixes on numerous labels across the UK, Europe and North America. In 2006, Ned joined Sultan as a regular artist on Deep Dish's renowned Yoshitoshi Records with "Connected" and the guitar-laden "Together We Rise," both included on Sharam's highly successful "Global Underground 029: Dubai" CD's, Armin Van Buuren's State of Trance and Dave Seaman's Renaissance Masters compilation

Never one to focus only on club music, Ned spent a month in the studio in the beginning of 2007 along with Sultan writing tracks for vocalist Nadia Ali (formerly of IIO). Together they have written and produced four tracks for her upcoming debut solo album as well as remixing the first single "Crash n Burn." In addition, Ned has joined Nadia on tour, as her official opening DJ as well as playing keyboards during the live show. The last year has seen them play shows across the Middle East, Europe, and South America, from the Arctic Circle to the desert. In addition, Ned continues to DJ in Montreal and around the world, having already played alongside top DJ's such as Tiesto, Dubfire and James Zabiela, and is continuing to work on new solo projects to be released throughout the year.

The beginning of 2008 saw Ned and Sultan launching their brand new label, Harem Records, which will feature brand new original productions as well as remixes from today's hot producers. Their debut release on Harem, "Eye Spy," reached 2 on Beatport's progressive charts and has received support from many of the top DJ's around the globe. Ned and Sultan are also hosting Harem Sessions, a new radio show which airs quarterly on friskyRadio.

The upcoming months look to be very busy for Ned. Sultan and Ned's cover of Olivia Newton John's 1 hit "Let's Get Physical" has just been released worldwide on Itunes by Yoshitoshi, hitting the top 20 Kool Kuts in the UK in its first week. Upcoming releases include the vocal anthem "Jeopardy", already played by Pete Tong on BBC Radio One, "Did We" on Paul Van Dyk's Vandit Digital imprint, and Ned's debut solo track "A Fine Balance" to be released on Harem in the summer. Whether it's behind the decks, in the studio or at a keyboard, Ned is always dedicated to delivering quality music to fans and clubbers around the world.
