[House, Tango, Funk]
Tom Taylor is DJ, producer and one half of 2020 Vision's infamous duo,
The Electric Press. Hailed by DJ Mag as "the future of house music",
The Electric Press are firm favourites with the notoriously
hard-to-please music journos.
As part of the duo, Tom has a catalogue of critically-acclaimed tracks and remixes under his belt, including the recent hit, 'Reevaluate' and remixes of Daft Punk, Kelis, Erykah Baduh, Armand Van Helden, Buick Project, DJ T... to name a few.
As a DJ he has graced the decks in the UK's top nights, Club Class (Ministry of Sound), Back to Basics (Leeds) and Jaded (AKA) as well as holding a residency for Tweak at Ditch and the notorious DDD in London.
He has also played many venues across the globe, including a recent Electric Press tour of Australia and Eastern Europe. This year will see him playing his deep house & melodic techno sound aswell as performing live as The Electric Press. Tom has also recently collaborated with Paul Woolford. The guys are re-editing and remixing 20 of the massive Murk /Funky Green Dogs classic tracks for Murk's album release later this year.
With Tom's DJing style he will layer up groove upon groove in a mellodic and seemless flow of techyness and hypnotic drums. His inspiration stems from the likes of Carl Craig, Andrew Weatherall, 2020 owner Ralph Lawson, Ewan Pearson, just to name a few. His love for DJing started from the age of 15. With an obvious talent he was soon booked to play at various nights and parties throughout his hometown of Leeds.
He started with a string of successful spots all over the city and appearances at various Po Na Na's and Revolutions over the UK. Then came his first major break aged 22 where he landed a gig alongside Fabric's Terry Francis and Canada's Fred Everything at The Mint in 2003.
Throughout Tom's career, there has been experimentation with genres from house, techno and funk to breaks, drum'n'bass, jazz and disco, all evident in his musical creations. Look out for future solo productions from Tom and from The Electric Press, including their debut album coming soon.
